The district court spent the day on the McBride murder trial begun yesterday. Defense closed and prosecution presented rebuttal witnesses by 11:30 a noon adjournment followed. Jury deliberations later that afternoon. McBride charged with killing George Cason at Lowell last May. The Lee case postponed to Monday. Word arrived that Colonel H C Hooker, famed cattleman and rancher north of Willcox, died suddenly in Los Angeles on Thursday. He leaves a wife, two daughters and two sons, and was noted for his dealings with Apaches during Arizona troubles. The report notes his prominence in Arizona affairs.
A bulletin reports justice actions sentencing vagrants to ninety days on the rock pile. Willie Barns, 10, fractured his arm and leg in Florence after a pony accident. Jose Ortega, sought for horse theft in Phoenix, was captured by Mocopa officers in Four Peaks country. Charla Brown, Tucaca pioneer, returned to Tucson and read reports claiming wandering in hills and exposure. J L Hill, former mayor of Preacot, died at Tempe on the 30th ultime. William Thomas, former Yavapai poor farm superintendent, commuted to one month in county jail. original six months. Thomas found guilty of payroll padding of $21 after trials. Orange shipments rise from Salt River valley. Boston and New York are chief buyers. Charles A. King, Ernest P. Wilson, and Frank DeSouza have purchased the Arizona Democrat from the Kellys and run the plant since December 2. Wiley Fitzgerald and Warren visit the city briefly.
The Phoenix Democrat reports alleged discrimination by the Santa Fe EP and SW and Southern Pacific railroads in Arizona may be brought before the Interstate Commerce Commission via new channels. Commissioner Fane is said to have ordered an investigation into alleged violations of interstate commerce laws to assess true grounds for action. Men's hats sold at Kool clearance.
C M Funston editor of the Leonine Sun at Flagstaff and former Winslow Mail owner died at his home early Saturday from heart failure. He was among the territory’s oldest and most respected press figures. His passing follows the October death of Flagstaff Gem’s R H Jones, marking two veteran editors in a month.

Merchants report stores already stocked with holiday goods and expect a rush in a couple of weeks while copper deposits at Emerald mine of T C M Co grow in size. Notables visiting or involved include Fred Fuss Harry Jennings Judge Grier Deputy White and E C Strickler. Governor Kibbey issues requisition papers for J H Frye wanted in Prescott for horse theft.
Federal investigators in New Mexico move the central probe from Santa Fe to Globe as eleven indictments target Phelps Dodge for perjury rather than government fraud. Affidavits of entry for San Juan County coal lands allegedly signed in Globe trigger the charges. Subpoenas drawn for witnesses across Globe, Arizona, and New Mexico.
Roosevelt names Capt Ingalls and Mr Wakefield for four year terms as surveyor general of Arizona and receiver of the general land office. The senate may confirm, with last Tuesday’s submission. Bisbee figures attorney Cleary visits district court. She will visit her brother Charles Becker near Eureks and then stay with sister Mia Mary Kinsey in Biebe Arizona while seeking work. She recalls recent freedom and notes doubt about her future. The case involved her husband’s murder with circumstantial evidence. Governors doubts remained.
