Progress of a Cochise County mine report

Vic J G Hearne vice president of Blace Diamond Mining Co and Black Diamond Improvement Co travels from Tombstone to Jerome to inspect the 200 ton capacity nememetter mine progress near Dragoon. A gravity tramway to connect mine and smelter is planned and the smelter is expected to start within two months. The Bisck Diamond mine is a tunnel mine 800 feet higher than the smelter with four principal tunnels linked by a wagon road and a 700 foot vertical gap above the lower tunnel. The railroad from Cochise toward Naco will open up mining districts and connect with Canaces rail line.
