Gananea Mine Fires Exterminated Reported

Telegram from Douglas says fires at the Gananea mine have been extinguished after advisory notices received yesterday. No injuries reported and operations to resume pending safety inspection.

Complaint over Arizona property tax assessment at conference

F Hamar tax agent for Mountain States Telephone Co told the annual tax conference in Prescott that Arizona’s property assessment law undervalues state property. He cited figures claiming actual value exceeds 500 million dollars and that last year’s assessment roll valued at 375 million. He noted Arizona property taxes are borne heavily by few visible owners and drew attention to vehicle registrations and corporate holdings. The remarks caused a stir and a motion to honor him failed on a tie vote. Elsewhere, Cananea fires and Bisbee freighters’ crews face continuing danger from remaining hot embers as efforts to cool them continue. portions of the Cananea fires were reportedly nearly extinguished.

Tombstone Young People Enjoy Night Out at Tank Hill

Last night on Tank Hill Tombstone boys and their guests from Philethes Club shared a lively evening. Rev and Mrs Hurene and others chaperoned as games, music and a spread kept the crowd entertained until about 11 30. Organizers plan another event and a Young Meor Club may form soon for more community entertainment.
