Reminiscences from the Prospector dated 1891 recall Pioneer Days in Tombstone Cochise County Arizona. The piece notes liquor duties, local industry, and a local political dig at the Tucson Star and Phoenicia Republican. The Prospector claims readers would miss the satire if not for the Republican reference.
The April extra session convened and rushed to organize with Brooks as House speaker and Simms as senate president without formal elections. Many old staff were reappointed. L. I Sweeting did not keep his post as chief of the house, replaced by Peter Munch of Nogales. Judge King of Salt Lake City presides, cross examining the plaintiff’s physician reveals expert anatomy knowledge. The case is the first damage suit tied to the act in Arizona. appeal planned to higher courts.
A group of charming young ladies in Tombstone surprised Mr. Harry Larson yesterday afternoon at Rose Cottage, the home of Dr. and Mrs J G Dawson, to celebrate his birthday. Refreshments followed as he praised Tombstone’s climate and announced he will stay, recently arriving from Omaha Nebraska and admiring the Old Camp.
The marriage of Hasty E. Kendall and Miss Mary Howe took place in Tucson yesterday evening in a surprise ceremony. The couple planned a quick departure for the Pacific coast by train, with friends left unaware until news reached Tombstone. Kendall, a cattleman with Kendall Cattle Company, will return to Tombstone with his bride, who is the daughter of Mrs. L. B. Howe of New York.
