Remonetization of Silver Sways Miners and Markets
An editorial in The Financial Age argues remonetizing silver could restore the 16 to 1 gold ratio as European war debts inflate currencies. It notes rising silver prices, questions who buys it, and suggests silver reserves may back future monetary needs, potentially benefiting silver-producing regions including the Rocky Mountain states.

Europeans Buy Books Twice as Much as Americans
Europeans buy books at roughly twice the per capita rate of Americans. In the United States one person in 1,300 reads a book in a year, Britain one in 1,800, France about the same, Germany and Japan better, and Switzerland one in ten. Cheaper paper covers explain part of the gap, but the trend persists across nations.
