Soldier’s back wound fixed after hospital incident
F W Philips of Phoenix, home from service with the Canadian forces in France, was operated on yesterday at St Joseph's hospital for a serious back wound. Delirium after the operation caused him to hurl a nurse down stairs, but she was uninjured and police arrived to restore control as Philips relaxed and faced no further trouble.

Fire destroys Union Oil Phoenix plant and nearby facilities
A Phoenix fire causing about 119000 dollars in losses wiped out the Union Oil company of Arizona plant and damaged the Finnay and Brown hide firm nearby. The blaze also damaged Santa Fe stockyards and partly burned railroad tank cars, with a 200 yard blast range from a 20000 gallon gasoline tank. No injuries beyond two firefighters. American eagle gifted to Governor Campbell in Phoenix
The private office of Governor Campbell received a mounted American eagle captured in the Catalina mountains near Benson after a battle with a larger eagle. The bird, with a wingspan over eight feet, was kept briefly at Benson, then turned over to state game warden Joe Prochaska who had it stuffed and presented to the governor.
