The Marshall Putnam Farm Bureau reports strong interest in the livestock survey with many producers expected to participate. A Farm Bureau picnic is scheduled for August 10 featuring horseshoe games, the Venona band, a basket lunch, a program by D O T tary Illinois Agriu tion, and entertainment including a cone band and a sextet.

Emma Johann Augusta Lenz Winkel died at her Toluca area home on August 22 1920 after a long illness. Funeral services were held at her home and at La Rose Lutheran Church with Rev Rudolph officiating. She leaves Fred Winkel and seven children Ida Fredrick C Ernest Edward Lewis and Walter at home, two sisters and many friends mourn her.

The Winkel family thanks neighbors and friends for kind acts during illness and death of Mrs. Fred Winkel and for the beautiful floral offerings. Fred Winkel and children.
Miss Mary McCormick died in a Detroit sanitarium. Father Runley and Father DeVille presided at the funeral with pallbearers Felix Gross Edward Burke Louis Eshen Roy Smith and Martin O Donnell. Burial was at Oak Hill cemetery. She was the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs John McCormick of Van Buren Street and survived by her parents two brothers and two sisters. Several relatives attended from St. Louis La Salle Blue Island Indianapolis Bedford Chicago and nearby areas.
A note records that William Hart Stratton was ordered to report in Springfield for further military service. He was among the first U.S. soldiers in the department and sustained injuries before reporting. He has been visiting with his parents Mr and Mrs Hart in Springfield while awaiting reassignment.
School begins Tuesday September 7. Free textbooks will be provided for first eight grades while high school students supply their own books. Rules require book maintenance, penalties for damage, and return at term end or on withdrawal. Promoted pupils and exam plans outlined. enrollment days set for September 4 and 6. teachers’ meeting scheduled.
Miss Margaret M. Whiteman and Mr. Barney Dustin married Sunday evening August 22 at St. Ann's rectory with Rev. Father Dickman officiating. Guests included Ida Carlson and Joseph Krueger. reception at the bride's aunt Mrs J A Burcham's home with a four course dinner. The couple will reside on a farm near Rutland, Illinois after September 1.

Mr and Mrs P M Gardner and daughter Virgie escaped unharmed after a collision near the Everly bridge east of Ed Hau gen's place while en route to a concert. A westbound car failed to dim lights, causing glare that obscured the bridge and led to the crash.
The funeral services for August May were conducted last Friday afternoon at the Lutheran church with Rev. Klein officiating. Burial followed in the Lutheran cemetery. The decedent had lived locally for many years, was well known and respected, and had farmed until retirement due to age. He had resided in Mrs. J. A. Burcham’s home for about a year.

George Schillings of Toluca vicinity died after falling in his cellar Monday afternoon. He slipped while descending stairs and burst a blood vessel, dying at 2 p.m. He leaves two sons Ed and Homer and daughters Mrs. W. Frazier and Mrs. Wm. Adams of Dixon. Funeral today at 2 p.m. at his home, Rev. Joe Bell of Minonk M E church officiating.
Toluca city bids sought for a pumping station on South Cedar Street with option to bid full project or separate carpentry concrete and brick work. Plans on file at mayor’s office. bids due August 31, 1920 at 2 p.m. City reserves right to reject any or all bids. Matt Pavletich, City Clerk.
