The Tama County Sabbath School Association held an Oct 28 1873 meeting in Wattham with G R Struble as president. L P Winterstein acted as pro tem secretary. discussions covered church and Sabbath School relations, duties of teachers, and library vs papers. An aid program supported a Bohemian settlement Sabbath School as a Mission. The two day session included Rev Messmer and others with multiple topics and adjournments to 9 and 2 o'clock.
On motion the committee on programme was tasked to assign the topic What are Sabbath School Conventions intended to accomplish to a respondent at Tama City for the next annual meeting and seek specific answers. The committee was also told to publish the topic at least one month before the meeting and not to assign a topic until the respondent consents. The association then adjourned edi sine die.
