411 Judging Team Places 21st at State Fair
The Kossuth County 4-H judging team placed 21st in a field of 81 at the Iowa State Fair. Members include John Scuffham and Rodney Scuffham of Algona, Paul Thoreson of Swea City, Reuben Show of Wesley, and Jim Blain of Titonka. They judged livestock, a keep or discard class, and ten market barrows. The team will compete at the Clay County Fair on September 17.

Recreation Area To Close September 30
Union Slough National Wildlife Refuge Manager Paul Ferguson reminded the public the recreation area will close for the season Wednesday evening September 30. The year saw strong recreation with visitor days above 1963. fishing picnicking and swimming were the main attractions. The 1964 waterfowl hunting season will begin at sunrise on Saturday.
