Feeder cattle shipments rise in June and July forecast strong prices
Farm Outlook notes June and July gains contrast with earlier months as terminal markets ship nearly twice as many feeders as last year. Kutish of Iowa State College predicts higher feeder prices, especially for fleshy short fed cattle, with caution for early 1957. Slaughter heifer prices may diverge from steer prices, and heavy steer carryover will shrink. A late fall shift to heifers is expected to ease demand while the next six weeks promise strength in fed cattle prices. A separate 4-H entry from Buffalo Boosters wins blue ribbon at the state fair with Watts My Line demonstration by Betty Hattan and Sharon Carroll.
