Magdeline Bretz born in Germany in October 1856 died August 29, 1934 at age 77 years 10 months 23 days after a long illness. She married William Orthel February 28, 1882, lived in Orthel township and later farms in Bingham then Woden. Survived by nine grandchildren and children Oscar Catherine Sophia Clara Anna Henry Elizabeth Patrick George. funeral at Sacred Heart Church with burial in Bing Am township cemetery. distance mourners named from Chicago Wesley and other towns.

County Auditor M J Butler said in a busy week of reviewing 1933 taxes that the late Executive Council reduced the dollar amount for tax credits. In round numbers 1938 tax refunds will be issued or credits applied for those who have paid taxes. no state levy will be charged for 1934 payable in 1935.

French Family Trip Finds Drought Across Missouri
Mr and Mrs HH A french and family drove to Bethany Missouri for a pleasure and inspection tour. They found fair crops as far south as Des Moines but from there to Bethany and Indianola crops were scarce with land bare and drought signs. Heslop Family Guests In Titonka From Eagle Grove
Walter C Heslop and Pagie Grove visited the Hagen family in Titonka on Sunday. Heslop, who left Titonka in 1903 after marrying Miss Bohrenson, now has three married children. His late wife died in Eagle Grove years ago. He remarried and has one child. His father Martin Heslop died seven years ago at 77. Corn-Hog Checks Due Today in Kossuth County
Two thirds of corn-hog contract payments totaling 398000 will arrive soon for owners and cash rent payers with landlords in the county. The remaining third and total tax collection estimate of 327000 will follow. Checks will be distributed from Swea City Bancroft Titonka and Algona by letter after arrival. Death of Wesley Township Pioneer Michael Schrauth
Michael Schrauth died at his home in Geneva Illinois on Tuesday afternoon August 28 from pleural pneumonia after two weeks illness. He lived in Wesley before moving to Geneva in 1919 and is survived by his wife Barbara and five children Anna Goetz Bernard Schrauth Cornelius Victor Schrauth and Adelaide Keim. Funeral services were at Holy Cross church Batavia and burial at St Josephs cemetery Wesley. He was born September 14 1866 near Petns tadt Germany and came to America at 18 to West Brooklyn Illinois. The family farmed in Hancock County before moving to the present farm NW of Wesley now operated by his son Bernard. Six children were born to the union with one son Anthony dying at age three. he also leaves 18 grandchildren.
