Shorty Lawler a Titonka resident and supervisor on a CWA project died when a tile trench ditch collapsed while he prepared to lay storm sewer tile. Co workers Johannes Wib hen H J Klenk and bystanders aided rescue, but life could not be saved. Funeral arrangements announced with services at Grand Junction following burial in the family lot.

Doden and other bidders including Ricklets Titonka Guy Butts and Sheriff Dahlhauser attended the sale. The assets were sold separately then all assets including notes, liens and overdrafts were sold together for 452.00.

A Minnesota note reports Mrs. John Seebach of Red Wing showed 57 apple varieties on a single tree. The fruit includes some apples as large as an infant's head, developed by years of grafting. One plate of these apples won first prize at the Minnesota State Fair.

Rites Held For Mrs Anna Kruse
Mrs J R Kruse born June 11 1846 in Germany endured ship wreck en route to America in 1882. She settled in Kossuth County joining Ramsey Reformed Church, married John R Kruse in 1886 and died after strokes on October 22, buried at Ramsey Church with two of four charter members remaining.

Albert Meyer accompanied the Bancroft buttermaker to California arriving on the coast after a snow storm in Idaho. They toured Boulder Dam noting the artificial lake with 450 miles of shore line 727 feet high the 280 feet deep reservoir and 3 300 workers with 97 fatalities. After inspection they approved the project and proceeded to San Francisco.

A quiet wedding Tuesday evening October 15 united Miss Gladya Aukes and Mr Clarence Heitland at the Congregational church with Rev Boomgaarden officiating. 32000 FISH TAKEN FROM UNION SLOUGH DITCH
H V Pierce game warden of Algona with Marshall Ricklefs Fred Hagen Arlo Larsen Wm Newville and Harold Johnson of Titonka helped net 32000 fish of many kinds from the Union Slough ditch last Friday. The catch included crappies pickerel perch and bullheads planted in the Des Moines River above the Algona dam and in the Buffalo near Tony Lohse place. Some large pickerel and crappies were placed in the Buffalo at Lohses. Many fish could not be seined due to soft mud and will die in severe cold. The workers earned a hard workout wading the mud. Stolen 1933 Ford V-8 Recovered in Milan Mo
Auto thieves took a 1933 Ford V-8 coupe from Glen Culberson in Algona last week. Sheriff Frederickson found the car in Milan, Missouri. C. R. LaBarre insured the vehicle, and he and the sheriff brought it home Sunday evening. No arrests yet. car sustained only minor damage.

New State Theatre Rapidly Nearing Completion
Thanksgiving opening anticipated as the State Theatre nears completion. The roof is on and concrete floors are being laid with plastering finished. Mr Pettit expects to open the theatre around Thanksgiving.

Justice P. A. Dawson's court heard a string of criminal cases. Woodrow Pettit of Algona was fined 2 dollars plus 5.10 costs for petty larceny. Joseph Kibbee of Ayrshire paid 3 dollars plus costs after violating stop sign law. H. Stiiley of Wesley faced a game by artificial light charge, fined 25 dollars and 3.85 costs. John Gifford of Burt received 80 days in jail with 20 suspended for good behavior plus 8.05 costs. Connie Brogan of Luverne paid a bad check fine and 8.85 costs. Paul Riehm of Britt settled for 9.20 dollars in checks and costs for false pretenses.
