Resettlement aid fuels farmer debt relief in town districts
The Resettlement Administration lent 1,286,758 dollars to 2,080 town farmers who would have had no other credit and were in dire need. Only 23,831 dollars were provided as non-repayable grants. The program offered renewed soil interest to families nearly 1,100 Iowa fathers who admitted they had “reached the end of their ropes” and might have left the town otherwise.
