Geese, coot, Wilson's snipe open on the same date with specific limits and restrictions. An Iowa license and federal duck stamp are required. shotguns capped at 10 gauge with 3 shells maximum. rifles not allowed for waterfowl.
4 H members in Kossuth County start planning the Western Lamb Project for 1955 56. Robert Johnson says participants will gain feeding experience with a 16 lamb unit. purchase of lambs is soon, with weigh weights 70 to 72 pounds and 100 days of feeding. Last year Iowa economists predicted tighter margins, but feeders could still profit. average return was 21.71 per unit and margin 2.94 per hundredweight. Enroll at the County Extension Office in Algona during October.
The Kossuth County 4-H Dairy Judging team finished fourth in the all breed State 4-H Dairy Judging Contest at the National Cattle Congress Show in Waterloo on September 30. Dick Kuecker of Algona earned runner up overall with 533 points and a Sunbeam electric calf dehorner prize.
Chicago hosts the third International Dairy Show and World's Championship Rodeo from Oct. 8 to 15 in the Chicago Stock Yards Amphitheatre. 4-H Clubs members and vocational agriculture students from 16 states will show over 300 purebred dairy cattle across Ayrshire Brown Swiss Guernsey Holstein Jersey and Milking Shorthorn breeds with judging contests for cattle quality.
