Feeder lamb prices rise as supply tightens says Iowa expert
Iowa State College farm economist Francis A. Kutish notes higher feeder lamb prices due to smaller feeder lamb supply. Top feeder lambs sold for 24 cents in Omaha for the week ending September 12 1957, the highest since May 1954, while good to choice slaughter lambs topped at 23 cents. Western feeders buy lambs and cattle amid anticipated good wheat pastures and strong feed crops in the western Corn Belt, with late fall and early winter markets expected to adjust prices.
