Simpson College student teachers begin practice in Indianola
Through a cooperative arrangement with Indianola public schools Simpson College trains 59 student teachers for the 1955-56 first semester. Twenty one pursue secondary teaching and 38 elementary. Tractor plunges from bridge injures farmer and child
Walter Wittrock of Halbur near Manning leaped to safety as his tractor ran off an eight foot bridge leaving him with a cracked rib and facial bruises. His seven year old son stayed on the bridge during the incident.

Ice Fishing Shelter Permits Available Across Iowa Lakes
The Conservation Commission announced free permits for ice fishing shelters on state waters. Permits may be obtained from local lake patrolmen in Okoboji Spirit Lake Silver Lake Clear Lake Five Island Lost Island Ingham High lakes Storm Lake Goodell and Lake Cornelia. Des Moines office handles all other lakes. Shelters must be substantial structures with permit numbers painted visibly.
