Farm Outlook From Kossuth Co Extension Director

The nation’s cattle feeders show 1 percent more cattle on Oct 1 than last year while the Corn Belt has about 4 percent fewer. Large shipper moves into the Corn Belt late summer and fall involve light cattle that won’t feed immediately. West and Colorado trends hint at strong feeder demand later, with potential price support if grass conditions improve. Kutish foresees steady to light downtrend in 1957 cattle numbers and high slaughter, offset by less beef per person with rising population.
