Farm Outlook on Hog Prices and 1960 Crop Prospects
Farm Economist Francis Kutish of Iowa State University says hog prices will not drop to new fall lows, with limited strength likely in late 1959. He notes Swift and Company's return to hog buying could narrow packer margins, and predicts small changes in the 1960 pig crop with more late-farrowing hogs. Farmers' breeding plans depend on year-end price trends. Also, Hobbyist Almore Qvel of Lamont crafts over 64 baskets from ornamental sticks since February.
