Imitation of Weathered Pine by Stain Process Described
A country house near Philadelphia showcases new pine woodwork finished to resemble weathered pine. The method uses oil stains made from raw sienna burnt umber and burnt sienna, thinned with turpentine and linseed oil, applied and wiped. After drying a black daub is added for irregularity, then a gray tinted white lead coat, followed by three wax coats. Floor treated with stain and wax, no wipe-off on the floor. Alternative ground stain with bichromate of potassium is noted.
