Eighth Grade News Halloween Party Highlights
The junior high held a Hallowe en party last Thursday from 2 to 4 PM with peanut races truth or consequences stories plays and poems. Refreshments included caramel apples and pea ula while the literature class read Avangeliga.
Halloween Fun Across Grades At Junior High
The eighth grade enjoyed the Junior class play Friday afternoon. Students in various grades held Halloween parties with games, poems, stories and plays. Highlights include a sixth grade poem hour, seventh and eighth grade plays, a pumpkin with funny glasses, and line graphs in math.

Wayne Keith of Burt was re elected president of Dairy Herd Improvement Association No 1 for the south end of the county at the annual meeting. Souis Greneirt of Whittemore and Floyd Bode of Algona were re elected vice president and secretary treasurer respectively. Pearl Hendrickson is supervisor and tester. Charles Osborn of Fenton was elected president of Association No 9 for the north end of the county. Ghostly prank ends with arm injury at Spencer event
Miss Clara Smith, a Spencer teacher, broke her arm while attempting to close a cur door as an automobile moved. Onlookers wondered who was behind the disguise. Armistice Day will have only morning mail service with no postal delivery. The post office will close at 10 o'clock to observe the holiday.
Former Woden Resident John Skilbred Dies in North Dakota
Carl Skilbred of Woden learned last week of the death of his brother John Skilbred of Hanneford North Dakota. John had moved from Woden months earlier to live near relatives. He died Thursday of a heart attack. Born in Stavanger Norway he came to the United States in 1904. Burial will be in North Dakota.

Floyd Newville's Son Runs Govt. Saw Mill

Algona residents note the local Selective Service office was closed for a regional district conference at Storm Lake. Attending board members included L. Lt. Lease, Wesley, M. J. Streit, Clark Scuffham, and GD Shumway. Several men were released from service due to age or medical discharge. Clark Scuffham was named to the Kossuth County Board by Gov. Wilson.
