Memorial Service for Sgt James J. Ley Held
Memorial services were held in Lakota on Sunday for Sgt James J. Ley of the 461st Bombardment Squadron. He was missing in action since February 29 1944 and later officially reported dead this month. Ley served as engineer gunner on a B 26 aircraft and completed 25 missions over occupied Europe. His mother Mrs William B. Gey accepted the Flying Cross and Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters from Lt Col A T Lobdell at the POW camp in Al Gona Iowa.
