The silver wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. T. Gerdes of Woden was observed on Sunday May 20 at St Johns Lutheran church. A large group of relatives attended a short program followed by refreshments and gifts for the couple.
Economy Hatcheries in Forest City Iowa offers Breedi Chicks ducklings poults goslings and custom hatching. Prices quoted from 7.95 to 0.95 for day old chicks and 11.95 to 19.95 for pullets. They offer pickup and delivery and invite readers to write for a local dealer name.

The Bancroft Lions baseball team unveils the 1951 season with three warm up games at Community Memorial Park. On Sunday May 27 they host the Albert Lea Packers, then Wednesday May 30 face the House of David, and Sunday June 3 meet the Cuban All-Stars. These exhibitions precede the Iowa State League opener on June 7 as the roster aims for strong league standings.
A narrow concrete bridge west of Lakota on highway 9 triggered a serious multi truck wreck Friday afternoon. Emerson Howard of Estherville and Robert L. Muse of Rapid City collided, with Fred Christman of Rapid City plowing into the tangled mess. No injuries, traffic cleared after lengthy effort. sheriff's office investigated. The Town Council met Friday evening May 11 1951 with Mayor Clark Clerk Reaser Treasurer Cooper and Councilmen Schutter Davis Ricklefs and Lester Callies present. Minutes were approved as read by motion of Callies seconded by Schuller with all members voting aye.
