County Federation Met Here Tuesday
The Kossuth County Federation of women's Clubs met in the Methodist church on Thanks Tuesday May 3rd with Fenton Avenue Burt and Titonka clubs. A noon covered dish luncheon followed with jonquils decorations. Morning business at eleven, citizenship lesson by Mrs Clayton Phillips, then 1:30 afternoon session. The Burt club performed a Humorous play The Higherups Buy a Car and a piano duet by Lucinda Stone and a friend. Mrs Prewitt showed Nome Alaska clothing and ivory work. Mrs C A Hoon sang, then a second play George and Martha Return. Next meeting in October with rural clubs entertaining. 87 enrolled.

Early Sunday morning about 280 people from Mason City Hampton Sheffield Rockwell Balmond Thornton Renwick Britt Woden Immanuel church near Woden Lakota Titouka Iowa gathered at the Lutheran church. Rev H W Schoenlein preached the sermon from L 249 and the local choir sang. a basket dinner followed. Edward Hugh Francis, born May 20, 1889 near Ambia Indiana, died Friday. Funeral Monday at 2:30 p m at Corwith Methodist Church with Rev. I C McNulty of Weasley presiding. Survived by widow Laura Ridinger, six children Harjo Glenn H Grace Masafon Marion Thompson Morea B, two brothers Charles of Winchester Olita George of Attica, an adopted sister Elizabeth Wolfe, and a daughter Bisia H who died in infancy. Preceded by parents and brother Jesse. Family moved from Baumanin to Corwith in 1914 then to Wesley three years ago. Relatives attending from distance named.

The council designated Titonka Savings Bank as depository for town funds up to 5000 dollars and the treasurer was authorized to deposit funds accordingly. The meeting adjourned.

Trio Escapes Death In North Ninth Street Crash
Hudson coach driven by Jennings Lindholm crashed into a house on North Ninth Street at 8:05 yesterday as the car swerved from the street after the feed failed. Lindholm Joe Hillestad and Harold Hansen were injured lightly and all were taken to hospital for examination. The car sustained extensive damage, and the Dahl Adams and Lee houses were affected, with witnesses noting the impact moved the foundation and shattered a radio and fruit jars. The incident was reported to police and authorities said insurance covers damage.
