Spare stamp 49 becomes valid May 1 for 6 pounds of sugar. OPA announced the coupon expires August 31. Stamp 39 has expired April 20. Two deer sighted around Titonka in recent days
Two deer have been seen in various places around the Titonka neighborhood over the last few days. Wayne Miller observed them toward German Valley, then near George Higgins's farm east of town. Donald Boeckholt reported them on the Callies farm. Witnesses described deer jumping fences and not appearing very wild, noting it as a nice sight.

Mrs. Wim Knight of Wesley Dies After Long Illness
Mrs Bertha Newman Knight, 65, died Tuesday afternoon at an Algona hospital after several weeks illness. Funeral services were held Thursday at the Wesley Methodist Church with Rev J A Riggs presiding. She and husband Wm Knight lived in Cedar Rapids seven years before moving to Wesley. They reared a girl now Mrs Edith Brockman of Needles California. She was a Rebekah lodge member and past noble grand. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers were Vee Mullin Tony Seiler Oliver Young Preston Chapin Paul Frieberg and John Hutchison.
