Equipment Plentiful For 45 Home Canning
A 1945 home canning drive will not lack equipment. Miss Jewel Graham of Iowa State College says metal canners will be rationed but available through channels, with 630000 pressure canners approved for the season. Stores planned ahead expect adequate jars lids and containers, with many carried over from last year. Jar rubbers remain plentiful though synthetic or reclaimed, and homemakers should avoid over-stretching them. Odd jars can be used for nonprocessing preserves and pickles, while size 63 discs fit smaller openings and are market available.
