Harry Arthur McElroy 72 died at his home on South Jackson Avenue Eagle Grove after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Chapel with Rev Tompkins in charge. He was born April 15, 1875, near Fairfield Town and married Dora Irene Newcomb on July 31, 1899. Survived by wife, three daughters Mabel Gordon Hansen Titonka Alice Layton West Union Vera Ringsdorf Burt, three grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, and many relatives. He farmed most of his life before moving to Eagle Grove 17 years ago.

In Algona the office of Leo Immersall the Kossuth county auditor was burglarized Saturday night and $142.60 in cash stolen from the safe. The combination was knocked off and Sheriff A J Cogley with state investigators pursued leads but produced few clues. The courthouse janitor Lloyd Hauback discovered the break and notified authorities.

United Service Women Make Useful Quilting Meeting
The United Service Women met Friday at Mrs. Geo. Peterson’s home with 11 members and one guest. They spent the afternoon quilting and finishing comforters, thanked Grandma Rippentrop for a neatly pieced quilt, and noted dues of 1.20 dollars payable by May 1 to the treasurer Mrs. Dorothy Penning or president Mrs. Lem Stockwell to start the new year with paid state and local dues.

Nomination papers circulated Saturday show Mayor French and Councilmen Schutter Fisher Hagen Swan and Sathoff and Treasurer Mrs Camilla Cooper are all seeking re election. It is unlikely there will be opposition. Mayor French has served four years as mayor and several years on the council. Schutter Psher and Hagen have eight years on the council, Swan four years, Sathoff two. Mrs Cooper was appointed treasurer after Carley Callies resigned.

Adeline Sheda of Chelsea married Alvin Loebig of Wesley at St Joseph Catholic Church in Chelsea Iowa on Monday March 4. Rev W F Panek officiated the nuptial mass at 9 am. The bride wore a white satin gown with heart neckline and short sleeves, carried a white prayer bouquet with pale lavender orchids, and was escorted by family and friends as rings were exchanged. A reception and wedding cake followed at the bride’s home, then a family dinner in Wesley and a dance at Kleinpeter hall. The bride, a Chelsea High School graduate, taught in public schools and is employed in Conroy. Loebig, a Wesley native, served in the Navy Air Corps and works with his father in Wesley.

WODEN The new fire truck arrived Friday evening from Flour City Body Co of Minneapolis mounted on a 1946 Chevrolet chassis. The local fire company has 16 volunteers with Charles Christengen as fire chief and Herb Doege as assistant chief. The truck is housed and maintained by the Town of Woden.
