Dairymen to Depend On More Roughage for Wartime Ration

Dairymen must base wartime milk plans on hay and silage as hogs and chickens use little roughage. Feed cows all they will eat daily with high quality alfalfa, spaghetti or clever if available. A cow can consume half her body weight in roughage to maintain itself and produce about two gallons of 4 percent milk daily. Increasing milk requires tegueume hays supplemented with grain at 24% pounds per gallon.
