Gillette News Letter From Capitol Hill Analysis on Federal Budget
The Capitol Hill column critiques federal spending and taxation, highlighting the 42 billion dollar budget, with 72.4 cents for wars and 18.8 cents for welfare programs. It argues for cuts mainly in military expansion and abroad aid, while noting protests from Defense and State departments over security concerns and a push for Atlantic Union discussions. It also covers farm price support issues, potato surpluses, hog market tensions, and a Mexico trip by an agriculture committee.
