Home Front in Iowa Reports War Ration Efforts and Salvage

Iowa boards appoint price panels to resolve retail price issues and collect data for adjustments while salvaging tin cans rises to 20 000 tons in April. The War Food Administration requires monthly slaughter reports from meat processors and butchers. Retailers may seek temporary increases in inventory for home canning sugar and stamps, with permanent requests sent to the district OPA. Iowa salvaged iron steel and farm scrap toward warship and destroyer production, while county chairs push fat salvage and June drives. Some single cent stamps expire with other stamps, conflicting with public impression of validity.
