Young Mother Passes Away At Untimely Age

Mrs Robert Janssen born September 18 1916 in German Township Kossuth County Iowa died May 25 1939 at Buffalo Cantor aged 22 8 days after illness. She was baptized August 6 1917 at Ramsey church entered faith via confirmation April 28 1933 and married June 26 1934 to Robert Janssen. A daughter Agnes Jo Ann born August 10 1935. Survived by husband daughter parents Mr and Mrs John Radmaker of Mtonka brothers and sister Henry Ti tonka Mrs George Hofbauer Buffalo Center Fred at home in laws Mr and Mrs Ago Janssen Buffalo Center. Burial at Ramsey Reformed church cemetery.

County Buys Gas at 2.3 Cents Below Tank Price

ALGONA The Midwest Service Company with Martin A Jensen Algona owner was the successful bidder Saturday for settling of 185000 gallons of gasoline by Kossuth County for road maintenance from June 1 to 2, 1940. The contract was offered at 2.3 cents discount from the tank wagon prices at the bulk station. There were six other bidders.

Presbyterians Welcome New Minister at Lakota

A large Lakota Presbyterian congregation welcomed new minister Rey and Mrs. DB. G. Sauer at the reception held in the church hall. The program featured vocal hymns, a piano solo by Virgil Wintjes, a talk by J.A. Barger, duets by Rev. and Mrs. Sauer, Wayne and Wanda Heetland, Norma and Miriam Heetland, and a piano solo by Paul Ukena, with benediction by Rev. Hammer. A social lunch followed.

Dairy Checkoff Plan Enacted by Iowa General Assembly

Iowa dairy producers approved a state checkoff to promote dairy products. From May 1 to May 14, a one cent per pound checkoff on all butter fat produced and sold in the state will take effect for two years. The program unites 12 statewide dairy organizations affiliated with the Iowa State Dairy Association to fund advertising, overcoming past collection challenges.

Land deal to sell Hanna estate acreage near Luverne

Dr N G Alcock of the State university buys 4 467 acres from G B Buchanan receiver of the Luverne bank. The sale, part of the Hanna estate in Kossuth county near Luverne, is contingent on higher bids and court approval. Eight miles of Luverne area, 11 improvements, 3 800 acres together, peak holdings 6 911 acres in 1931.

Will Larson Returns From New Mexico Visit

Will Larson came back Monday from Las Cruces New Mexico where he joined his daughter Mrs G B Wassen six weeks earlier and stayed for commencements at the State College where Mr Wassen earned a General Science degree.
