Farm Outlook on 1959 Hog Crop Shifts to Market
Farm Economist Francis Kutish of Iowa State University says the larger spring pig crop will hit markets by October with hogs moving to market in volume by August. He notes a leveling of price peaks due to an even farrowing pattern and a rising fall pig crop, with farmers planning 46 million fall pig entrants versus 58 million in spring, plus shifts to early winter and late fall litters.
