Miss Donna Akkerman selected by Algona District Youth Council to join 9 others at the National Convocation of Methodist Youth at Purdue University August 22 to 28. Rev. Max E Goddman to serve as convener for a discussion group during the week. Ruth Phelps honored at Methodist church shower with 100 guests. she will marry Paul Krominga July 10 at Titonka.
Mr and Mrs Fred DeVries visit Boone to see Lena DeVries a missionary in training at the American Seminary of the Bible in Brooklyn New York She has completed two years of Bible study and will return to work among New York City un evangelized and assist in Bible Christian Union printing. A grocery shower honored Mrs Vernon Schutter at Mrs Martha Shutter's home. The Methodist W S C S meets July 13 with devotions by Mrs Lewis Larsen lesson by Mrs Harold Gartner and hostesses listed. Bonded Once Sheldahl Iowa in Polk County has been in debt only once since founding five years ago when the city authorized a bond for its water system.
Ballots for the annual ASC township elections will be mailed July 8 to 5202 Kossuth County farm owners and operators. Voters receive ballots, return envelopes, and secrecy instructions with a July 15 deadline. Ballots list nominated candidates. three committee members and two alternates per township will be elected. A three member tabulation board will count ballots July 19. results announced soon after. The county convention July 30 in Algona will name the ASC committee for the next year.
Mrs. Earl M Toothman died at her Burt home on Tuesday. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 pm at Burt Methodist Church with Rev J W Bearse officiating. Burial in Bart Township Cemetery. She was born August 26 1880 in Navada Iowa to Anders and Mrs Anderson. Survived by husband one daughter Evelyn Chainland Mallard four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Married March 25 1903.
Shmon Fred Wenger leads choir practice and worship at Woden Presbyterian Church as Mrs Mary Shum, oldest resident of Clarinda, dies at 106. Titonka considers selling its old police station with bids reaching 8000 dollars. A long district financial report lists salaries, purchases, and payments for the quarter ending June 30 1955 certified by Secretary Harold Gartner.
