Junior Prize Winners Predatory Hunt Named
Algona unit of the Kossuth County Conservation League announced junior prize winners at the June Algona chapter meeting. The unit scored 16 145 points led by Pater Deal with 6 605 points from 171 crows 285 pocket gophers 146 starlings and one fox. Second went to Bob Wray third to Dick Pearl fourth to Marvin Beach and Arth ta Gene Wray. Plans call for another tran shoot, likely later in summer for the Boy Beaters.

Land Sea Air Battles To Be Seen at State Fair
Special-Iowans will view an extensive war photo exhibit at the Iowa State Fair Educational Building. The display will show Poland, Finland, Norway, France, England, Africa, and naval fronts with large enlargements of tank battles, sea engagements, and aerial warfare, offering a grim yet informative cross-section of the past year’s fighting. Secretary A R Corey called it the largest exhibit of its kind in America this year to deepen public understanding of the war.

Sister Jim Hansen of Titonka is killed in a Sunday Bancroft auto crash near the cemetery corner. Miss Pathenio Hanger of Britt, 98, a relative, also dies. Passengers include C Uhlenhake and Ray mond Otis. Otis survives, others injured. Uhlenhake and Miss Miller are hospitalized in Algona with serious injuries. Miss Hansen’s funeral held in Britt.

4 H Girl Wins State Camp Trip in Conservation Effort
Ruth Meine, president of the Lotts Creek Lassies 4 H club, earns a place representing Kossuth county at the state conservation camp at Camp Mitigwa near Boone. Her county record includes tree planting, wildlife habitat mapping, bird study, and identification work. The Mitigwa camp, open to 48 boys and 48 girls with top county records, runs with staff including Badger Clark and Hula Loughran. They return July 7.

Five Hurt In Burt Car Crash Sunday
Five persons were seriously injured Sunday morning five miles northwest of Burt when a turn driven by Ralph Thompson Lot Rock and Ralph Stewart Burt collided at an intersection. Partly obstructed vision blamed for the accident. Mrs Stewart and son Merton were riding with Mr Stewart. Mrs Stewart most seriously injured with fractured neck brain concussion elbow and arm injuries and shock. Mr Stewart suffered heat injuries and son received brain concussion and a fractured right leg. Mrs Stewart removed to Fort Dodge hospital. Thompson and his son Willard taken to Algona hospital. Thompson's right arm broken and head injuries. Willard suffered a deep cut under his right arm.

Farmer Buys Irvington Elevator in $22,000 Sale
Clarence Mandaley, a Kossuth farmer, bought the Irvington Parm Sp a Sonarativn Association elevator and its contents for 22000. The deal, handled by L J Linnan of Algona, followed the state charter expiry on March 11. Mawdstey and 148 other stockholders will share in the sale proceeds. The elevator was built in 1820.
