Titonka Falls to West Bend in Junior Legion clash

Titonka Junior Legion, hampered by rain delays, traveled to West Bend and lost 6 to 0. Bell earned the win for West Bend allowing three hits while Titonka’s Downs gave up eight hits in four innings. Bruny pitched two innings in relief, yielding one hit and no runs.

School Builds Room For Classrooms And Bus Garage

A new cement block building 150 by 35 feet is to be erected at the southeast corner of the school grounds to house three classrooms and the school buses. A rear addition will hold the heating plant and toilets and future plans include space for manual training. Large trees in the site must be blasted and removed with a tractor.

Ramsey Reformed Church Service and Sermon Topics

Whittemore Couple Wed at St Patrick's Church

Examinations for Drivers Licenses Every Saturday

Examinations for drivers licenses will be held at the Court House in Algona every Saturday per Sheriff Art Cogley. No call needed. Des Moines will notify when to take the exam. Licenses under 500000 extend to July 5, 1949. over 500000 require future exams with notification. A steady crowd queued through the courthouse hall.

Heavy Rain and Hail Hit Local Area Last Friday

Strong storms lashed the neighborhood Friday evening with 4 high winds and hail in some spots. Crops largely escaped damage, but the Walter Miller farm southeast of Titonka suffered uprooted trees, hail damage, and a lightning strike that knocked out the transformer and shocked Virgil Miller. Only this nearby farm reported significant crop harm.

Valley Farmettes held their monthly meeting on Tuesday evening June 22 at the home of Velida Bruns. A steak supper opened the gathering served by the hostess. Lakota Ladies Group Meets for Monthly Christian Aid

The Lakota Women's Christian Association of the Presbyterian church met in the auditorium for their monthly gathering. Mrs. T. C. Schaper opened with prayer, the group sang several pieces, Doris Jean Heitland performed two marimba selections, and various members led meditations and prayers. CARE package letters were shared, expressing gratitude for the food, with hostesses named for the event.

Woden Co Op Annual Report Details 1920s Meeting

The Farmers Co-Operative Elevator of Woden held its annual meeting at the Woden Legion hall on Saturday night June 26. Manager W D Hemmingson reported year sales of 829149 dollars with 30420 dollars saved, to be paid as patronage dividends at 6 44 cents per bushel on grain and 8 percent of merchandise. Glenn Pogeler of North Iowa Co Op Soybean Processing Association spoke on soybean processing and uses. The Quin tones from Iowa State Teachers College entertained, followed by ice cream at the city park.

Titonka Lions Enjoyed Annual Picnic

Titonka Lions club and families gathered at the school grounds for their annual picnic last Thursday evening. Mr and Mrs J L Miller of Burt attended as usual, with Luke as long time president. Arthur Budlong Hermaty Dreesman Qouls Bartlett and wives supervised a big feed. Some young men played baseball while others listened to a radio report on the national convention. The gathering was well attended and mosquito bags were notably absent this year.

Betty daughter of Mrs. Evelyn Moore Algona and Paul son of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Bierstedt Lakota wed in Burt Lutheran church June 24 at 7 30 p m candlelight double ring ceremony conducted by Rev.
