Farmers with Federal Land Bank loans through Algona National Farm Loan Association are invited to the annual meeting Tuesday January 12 in the Kossuth County courthouse chamber at 7 o'clock p.m. About 400 stockholders may vote for directors for 1937. Directors include W. H. Patterson Lakota H. D. Hutchins secretary treasurer and a representative from the Federal Land Bank of Omaha will attend. This marks the 9th anniversary of the Algona Association chartered in November 1927 as one of the district's largest lenders.

County Legion Meets In Swea City January Twenty First
The annual County Legion convention will be held at Swea City January 21. County Legion office bearers will be elected at this meeting, with D. Hutchison of Algona to serve as County Commander, replacing the previous officeholder since last August. Funeral services for John A. Winter, Buffalo Center, were held Wednesday after his death on Monday morning after a long illness. He was born July 20, 1844 in Hamersmar, Germany and came to the U.S. in 1870 settling near Ackley. He later moved to Buffalo Center, helped build the German Baptist church, served as deacon 14 years, and died December 28, 1996. He leaves a wife, children, one brother, and many relatives.
