Medical Science Gets Effective New TB Tool Tibione
New York reports Tibione, a German drug, shows promise against certain TB forms like laryngitis and enteritis. Doctors Hinshaw and McDermott studied 2000 patients in 10 German hospitals, noting potential for longer use with fewer toxic reactions and synergy with streptomycin, though not matching its rapid impact or effectiveness in military TB or TB meningitis. Sechenley Laboratories plans clinical tests with government and research bodies, with wide availability at least a year away.
