Ralph J. Smith died at home December 28 after a lingering illness at 83. Born October 12, 1875 in Bath Township Mason City, he farmed near Woden, later moving to town with wife Bertha and three children. Surviving are Bertha and children Ralph M. Smith, Henry Arthur Smith, a daughter Anna Hoels, two half-siblings, and many relatives. Funeral Tuesday included a prayer service at home and service at St. John's Lutheran Church with burial in Bingham Township Cemetery.
