Pheasants Not Nuisance Says University Expert
W H Over assistant curator at the University of South Dakota Museum disputes farmers claims that pheasants destroy grain and corn. He notes pheasants feed mainly on seeds and insects, not grain, especially in summer, and that winter grain loss is minimal. He argues only in crowded quarters with scarce food could pheasants threaten partridges, and urges open hunting seasons to manage numbers.
