Farm Machinery Preparedness Tips For Oil Use

A farm tractor's oil choice affects engine wear and operating efficiency. Oil quality is proven by real conditions. seasonal changes require different weights. New or overhauled engines need light oil, while looser engines benefit from heavier grades, though too heavy oils can hinder winter performance and proper lubrication. Follow manufacturer recommendations for seasonally correct oil weight.

Advice on Engine Oil Maintenance and Quality

The guidance recommends using an oil grade one level heavier if the engine is worn and loose. Drain old oil after initial running time under normal conditions. If fuel leakage and oil dilution are high, drain more often. Avoid cheap oils from questionable companies.

Pigs perform about as well on wheat as on corn, with wheat offering a slight protein edge. Best results come from grinding wheat and using a self feeder or separating corn and wheat feeders. An Iowa State College trial showed stronger gains with separate feeders than mixed feeds.
