Model Tennessee Town Residents Own Homes Police Chief Says
Norris Tennessee town of 1,200 residents boasts full home ownership, no delinquents, and no bonded debt. Real estate investor Henry Epstein bought the town five years ago for 2.1 million dollars, selling dwellings and land to recoup his investment. The town employs five full-time staff, has one police officer, and records only one major crime in its history with a low arrest count last year. Citizens previously pressed for higher taxes to fix streets.

Vienna Taxicabs Keep Rolling Despite Wear and Tear
Vienna operates about 1,300 taxis mostly from 1912 to 1920, a marvel of the modern world exceeding London Paris and Rome in many respects. Some cabs are hand cranked and interiors are primitive with horse blankets as upholstery. A fleet refresh from 100 used sedans from U.S. Army stocks may boost service, while stories of rough handling persist.

Modern Fuels Are Aid To Matering Economy

Modern car owners are better off than in 1925 when costs ranged from 10 to 20 cents per mile. Two gallons today replace three gallons from 1925, yet pre-tax cost remains about the same.
