Local Social Notes And Marriage In Portland
PROSPECT TULL Mrs J J Graham is able to be out again after her longiness. Grindma Woodward of Titonka is visiting with Mrs Lewis Larsen. John Johnson and sister Thora of Plum Creek visited at the J J Larsen home last Sunday. Mrs Fred Ringsdorf returned Wednesday from a visit at the home of her parents in Wesley Ed Bartlett and wife and James Larsen and wife attended the wedding in Bart last Wednesday night. Scott Allen has returned from Wisconsin being well pleased with the country he expects to move soon. Miss Dora Kitchenreuther returned to her home Sunday after a weeks visit with her aunt Mrs Barbara Bartlett. The Ladies Aid Society will give a Broken Heart social at the Tox home Saturday of this week. Portland is to change the school books. Most teachers are glad for this as uniform text books would benefit schools and teachers. Last week Wednesday at the home of the brides parents occurred the marriage of Miss Jessie Miles to Ira Todthman. Promptly at the appointed time to the strains of Lohengrin’s Wedding March played by Miss Millie Stewart the bridal party took their places under an arch of lace curtains and evergreens. Rev Mint of Karly formerly pastor of the M church of Burt spoke the words which made them one. Relatives and friends congratulated them and wished joy. The guests were then served a bountiful supper by the Misses Miles Denhert Moore and Anderson. The bride wore white silk trimmed in white lace and applique and wore white carnations. the groom wore black. As both are well known to Portland people nothing else need be said of their high esteem and wishes for joy.
