National Museum Receives Reproduction Mosaic Map
The National Museum on its new building's second floor displays a color reproduction of a sixth century Medeba map mosaic. Presented by S. W. Woodward of Washington, the original map once served as the church floor in Medeba territory east of Bethlehem. The artifact extends from Nablus to the Nile delta, depicting biblical sites, Jordan and Dead Sea, two boats on the Dead Sea, and east desert life. The copy was acquired by Woodward during a world tour around the Christian era in 1899.
