Fraudulent poultry scam targets farmers across the country
A man and woman posing as charity workers traveled to a small town, collected chickens for an orphanage in St. Louis, then sold them for thirty dollars after two days of begging. The scheme mirrors others where impostors claim health department authority to inspect stock, condemn birds, and push sales to merchants. Local authorities and residents are urged to report suspicious visits and inspect requests for stock or poultry, while Mason City raids yielded over a hundred barrels of alcohol.
