Eisenhower Administration backs large river power projects
The Administration supports two major multipurpose river power schemes, the Upper Colorado and Fryingpan Arkansas projects, with hundreds of millions for power costs and billions of kilowatt hours annually. It opposes Hell's Canyon on the Snake River, which would cost about 270 million and generate over five billion kilowatt hours. Senate bill 8863 may suspend construction on non navigable or intra state river licenses, prompted by Senator Neuberger's amendment.
