Provisions For '68 Wheat Program Outlined By ASC Leader

Mayor operating provisions of the 1968 wheat program will mirror 1987 rules, according to Ro 1 Anderson, ASC county committee chair. A key change is issuing domestic marketing certificates on an estimated 530 million bushels based on 40 percent of farm allotments from a 59.3 million acre national base, with certificates valued as the gap between full parity and the loan level of 1.25 dollars per bushel. For 1987, certificates are worth 1.36 dollars, versus 1.32 for 1966. The 1968 program keeps no acreage diversion, continues the wheat and feed grain substitution provision, and maintains the excess wheat option for growers with plantings up to 50 percent over allotment.
