Conservation and wildlife training rules and fishing contracts
The Conservation Commission reminds dog owners not to train dogs on game in the wild before July 15, with a closed period from March 15 to July 15 to protect nesting birds. It notes a April 1-June 30 rough fish purchase contract awarded to Stoller's Fisheries, with local sales limits to individuals of up to 500 pounds. It reports Iowa swine testing results showing a 240 pound five month old farm-bred boar and a fatter barrow, with guidance that a tougher boar is needed for meat-type hogs.
