Quarter Century Of Rural Mail Carrier On Route One
J. P. Breen marked twenty five years as Uncle Sam rural mail carrier on Route 1. Starting salary sixty dollars monthly with emoluments, he celebrated by delivering the mail. Early residents resisted mail boxes, but rural delivery grew into a daily home service across the United States. Breen plans retirement but will miss the route, knowing every house and bend, with no serious accidents in his quarter century of service.
