Federated Clubs Plan Annual Meet in Titonka on April 9
The county Federation of Woman's clubs will meet at the Methodist church in Titonka on April 9 with hostess clubs Titonka Dean Burt Plum Creek and Union Mothers and Daughters. A forenoon session and noon luncheon are planned. Mary Kain of Algona, an ex Army nurse, will speak on her experiences in Alaska and Africa, including Dutch Harbor and the Africa hospital project. The meeting may decide if the group returns to three meetings a year after wartime rationing reduced schedule.

Little Daughter of Cosgroves Passes After Sleeping Sickness
Virginia Joyce Cosgrove, 18 months old, died at Mason City hospital after a brief illness. She was taken to the hospital with bronchial pneumonia before doctors diagnosed sleeping sickness. Burial followed Friday at Wesley after services at St. Joseph's Church. Mr and Mrs Richard Cosgrove are the child's parents.

Hans DeVries Returns From Waldorf Glee Tour
Hans DeVries son of Mr and Mrs Fred DeVries returns home at 14 after a Waldorf College glee club tour with 60 youths through Wisconsin Illinois and Iowa. The goodwill offering topped 3000 with 1000 net for Waldorf Mission Chapel funds. They traveled by two Jefferson buses and stayed with host families except in Chicago at the Plaza and Allerton. A concert is set for Immanuel Lutheran Forest City at 8 p.m. next Sunday with KiGLO radio broadcast at 9 30 a.m. on the same week or the following.

Death Report of Tes Abbas Proved a Mistake
The Ed Abbas family faced anxiety after a letter from the Iowa Historical Department suggested Tes Abbas had died at Pearl Harbor on December 7 1941. A subsequent notice clarified the report was false, stating Tes was in the Navy somewhere in the Pacific and had not died.

Stephen H Tjaden Dies After Long Illness at 38
Stephen Henry Tjaden of Woden died at his home near Woden Sunday noon March 31 after a long illness at age 38. Born in Woden April 11 1907 he lived in the community all his life. Survived by wife Alma Sloper son Glenn parents four brothers and four sisters. Funeral was April 3 with burial in Bingham Township Cemetery.

Algona auctioneer Hugh Colwell operating sales pavilions at Algona and Emmetsburg lay in critical condition at a Fort Dodge hospital after a highway accident. While returning from an Emmetsburg sale, he stood on the running board to hold a flashlight as the car slowed near a prisoners camp area. his hat blew off and he fell head first to the pavement. He was initially able to go home before worsening, then rushed to the hospital later the same day.

Man Injured In Fall From Pole on Telephone Line
WODEN Albert Larson son of Mr and Mrs Christ Larson of Searville was seriously hurt Monday morning while helping his brother Luther Larson set up telephone lines north of Woden. A wire broke causing him to fall from a pole onto a steel fence post and he suffered chest injuries. He was taken by a local doctor to a Mason City hospital.

Wesley Boy 4 Killed When Struck By Car
Funeral services for Larry Dean Monson four year old son of Mr and Mrs Albert Monson were held Sunday afternoon at 230 at the Methodist church with Rev J A Riggs in charge. He died Thursday at about 6 pm when struck by a car driven by LeRoy Amstead 32 at Eagle Grove. The child suffered a basal skull fracture after stepping from a ditch onto highway 18. The driver was released from felonious intent after an inquiry by coroner Dr R A Evans. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery with survivors including four brothers and one sister.

Dr Pierre Sartor celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of his graduation from a medical college on Sunday March 31. Family from Mason City Britt Chicago Bancroft Titonia and friends attended. many longtime patients praised his long service. He trained in Luxembourg before Loyola University Chicago 1896, practiced in Bancroft Titonia and has remained in Titonia since 1918. Flowers from Michael Winandy of Richmond Indiana accompanied the celebration.
