Safety Rules For Handling Electricity
Unsafe use of electrical appliances causes many home injuries. Norval Wardle of Tiwa State College lists ten precautions: never touch an appliance in the bath. use outlets for appliances, not lamp sockets. disconnect irons when not in use. avoid connecting in a puddle of water. do not touch grounded metal when handling appliances. inspect cords for damage. do not run cords across radiators or pipes. never yank cords. insist on safety labels on cords and power supplies. Buckthorn hedges threaten cats in Iowa and host crown rust. remove hedges to reduce infestation. Be aware of seed germination when planting and send soybeans to the ISU seed lab to test germination. Iowa dairymen increase artificial breeding services by 24 percent. Farm machinery will not bottleneck production in 1952 due to ample inventories and output. Most Iowa soils require liming, but rates vary. soil testing is advised.
