Eight Die as Wabash Passenger Train Collides
Williamsport reports eight killed and between forty and fifty injured when a Wabash passenger train collided with a freight train near the Williamsport siding. The crash fractured cars, released scalding steam, and sent several victims to St. Elizabeth hospital in Lafayette and Danville. Superintendent Wabash W. J. Eckert blamed brake man Davis E. Torrener for the wreck, noting unlocked switch and misrouted freight cars. The rear Pullman carried Wabash officials including vice president H. S. Brown and controller J. W.
